One-Upper

Person 1: "I played a round of golf...I shot an 82." 

Person 2: "Oh, I played a round of golf two days ago and yesterday with scores of 72 and 73."

Person 1: "Well, I played a round of golf twice in one day and shot a 68 and a 69."

Person 2: "I shot a hole in one, twice."

One-Upping

I am not sure if I am the only person in the world that gets highly annoyed with one-upping, but let me tell you...I HATE IT. 

We have a friend whose name is "One-Up" in my husband's cell phone contact list. It's a joke to most of us because he literally one ups your one up and then one ups his one up. Everything is a one up. I don't think he means anything by it, but I cannot for the life of me figure it out. I try my hardest not to one up people, but sometimes my story is better and I just find myself doing it. Need.to.stop.now. Yesterday, I was telling a story about how I got written up at work because of some lame thing that occurred at a Holiday party. I mean, I almost got fired and I think that's a pretty damn-good story. This dude totally TRIED to one up me! He even said, "oh, I have something better than that." I laughed out loud fo-real. He went about his story and it was a lame story and at the end no one uttered a word. I get that other people's stories and experiences might be better than mine, but don't intentionally one up me! Is it insecurity? Or do these people want to be popular at our adult ages? I mean, it's kind of like keeping up with the Joneses...just don't do it because you will look like an idiot in the end.

And-can I tell you I bit into the most disgusting-driest flippin' peach ever?
